MSc Environmental and Architectural Acoustics-
Professional Recognition It is
highly recommended that you join a professional body. The student price is low
and the benefits to your career are great. Upon graduating you can apply for
Associate Membership and with a couple of years experience, full Membership. The
next step is becoming a Chartered Engineer, two options are available.
CIBSE
The Chartered Institute of Building
Services Engineering accredits the course for further learning, if an accredited
BEng (Hons) in Building Services has been awarded. This follows the standard
route for becoming a Chartered Engineer and assumes substantial professional
experience has been gained.
Institute of Acoustics
Through the Institute of Acoustics
and following the non-standard route, you can become a Chartered Engineer. This
normally requires a Masters degree in Acoustics, an honour degree and a
portfolio of evidence of your professional work, usually this takes at least
five years to build. A mentor takes you through the process which culminates in
a interview with at least two Chartered Engineers.
